Teng Fei Won the Prize

The Shenzhen International Brand Underwear Fair (SIUF) welcomed over 100,000 visitors to its last edition in April 2016.

With over 800 exhibitors presenting everything from raw materials to finished products, it has quickly established itself as the most important lingerie trade show in China. For the past six years, Intima Media Group's Asian title, Intima Asia, has been present with a large, welcoming space located right in the heart of the action. Moreover, each year, it bestows the prestigious Intima Asia Favorite Award at a gala ceremony for industry professionals. This year, the honor went to the textile company Teng Fei, which won the coveted prize for the successful launch of its UU-Fiber.

About the Prize
For several years, Intima Asia has granted its Favorite Award to one of 800+ exhibitors at China's premium trade show for the lingerie industry, SIUF. The honoree wins prominent editorial coverage in all of Intima Media Group's sector publications. The prize recognizes both a brand's concept, as well as its finished product. "Having worked for the most well-known American and European brands for decades, Chinese manufacturers are certainly capable of achieving quality products," says Francesca Spinetta, Director of Intima Media Group. "Now, they are faced with the challenge of launching their own brands – and all that implies, in terms of business know-how, including marketing. The Intima Asia Favorite Award supports companies that are able to propose real concepts."

This Year's Winner
While a string of lingerie brands – including U Code, Kisfun and Sportlife – captured the honor several times in a row, this year the spotlight turned to the Materials & Fabrics section. Teng Fei won the prize for the launch of UU-Fiber, a new ultra-lightweight multifunctional molded bra cup. Its unique honeycomb structure offers strong support and breathability – 800mm-1000mm/s as opposed to 110-180 mm/s of standard cups, allowing moisture to evaporate quickly. Unlike traditional polyurethane foam cups, these are not chemical. The cups are recyclable, do not yellow, and maintain their shape upon washing. Teng Fei is very proud of this technological innovation, as explained by the company's CEO, Mei Xianming, "In addition to its main features that make it much more attractive than a traditional polyurethane molded cup, the material used in the UU-Fiber makes it very scalable. Its basic formula can be changed by adding different types of functional fibers, such as protein fibers or hemp. A whole new world of development is open to us." It will be interesting to follow the applications of this innovative product in the years to come.
